Safer Recruitment
At Orchard House, we see our team as family rather than just staff. Each member brings not only their experience and expertise but also a genuine dedication to improving the safety and well-being of all young people in our homes.

With many years of experience in residential supported accommodation, our team is carefully selected through a safer recruitment process to ensure they embody the values of compassion, reliability, and respect that all young people deserve. Together, we foster a culture of nurturing and supportive environments where everyone feels valued and safe and accountable.
Our Safer Recruitment
Promise ...
Orchard House - Northampton (OHN) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in our care at all times. Our safeguarding procedures are delivered with a strong core of experience working with vulnerable children & young people.

We recognise that it is fundamentally vital to safeguard young people by ensuring we maintain a recruitment strategy that trains and retains the best staff to work with young people who protect and support children and young people whilst mentoring and supervising less experienced staff.
We promote a transparent and open culture of staff interaction, engagement and behaviour towards and around young people.
Our recruitment process follows legislative guidance and recommendations set out within the Children Act (2004), Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), Recruiting Safely Guidance (2011) and furthermore all staff are inducted on their own individual responsibilities towards safeguarding young people.
OHN's Safer Recruiting policy aims to ensure:

-
We employ staff who are engaging, motivated, have strong values and communicative abilities, suitable for the position and the nature of the work they will undertake;
-
Compliance with legislation, recommendations, guidance and the code of practice published by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) & independent/Local Safeguarding Authorities for our selection and recruitment processes;
-
Evidence our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people from the very first contact and throughout any individual’s employment with OHN.
By adopting this policy - children and young people in OHN can be protected by a safer recruitment process with enhanced checks and ongoing employment that upholds a culture of accountability, conduct and integrity.
